Picchioni Buttafuoco dell’Oltrepò Pavese 'Bricco Riva Bianca'
An organic single-cru wine which pays tribute to the prestigious legacy of Buttafuoco from one of the region's leading producers. Tre Bicchieri awarded, this is one of the region's finest examples of this wine. Co-fermented blend of Croatina (provides tannin, depth and body), Barbera (provides bright acidity) & Ughetta di Solinga.
Rich, deep but also vibrant, the wine displays intense flavours of dark fruits and notes of dried plum, prune, tobacco, spices and fine chocolate, with balance provided by structured tannins and lively acidity. Rounds off with a balsamic note characteristic of the Solinga valley.
A wine to give sheer pleasure - this is terrific for drinking now with a min. 1 hour decant (see how the wine evolves in the glass for hours!) but will reach its peak only over the next 10 - 15 years. Annual production: ~3,000 bottles.
Pairing suggestions: game, stews and roasted meats, medium ripened cheese.
